A Mother’s Love

I’m not going to write much for this post, mainly because I want you to just sit and oogle these photos just as much as I did. I just wanted to say that Jessica is a badass because not only was she about to give birth any day at the time of this session, but her and her husband trekked all the way to the Bay Area from Stockton, and I definitely made her hike a *tiny* bit in like 100 degree weather. And she had a smile on her face the entire time! Can they be anymore perfect??

Side note – Weren’t her dresses absolutely ahhhmazing?!

Styled Shoot at Peña Adobe Park

I had been planning and planning to put together a fantastic styled shoot. I wanted a big dress, a cake, 2 models, a backdrop, the whole kit and kaboodle.

As I was researching all of the vendors I wanted to use, I finally decided that I work so much better on the fly. I always tend to over analyze things and stress out too much, so this was the perfect solution for me. Do what comes naturally, and simple styled shoots come naturally to me. The dress I found at a local thrift store, hair and makeup were both done by me, and the bouquet I made from 4 different bouquets at Trader Joes.

My brother, and his awesome girlfriend modeled for me and you can truly see the depths of their love in these images. Makes my heart so full to capture the intimate and authentic relationship between two people.

Enjoy the fruits of my labor!

First wedding of 2017

First wedding of 2017 woohoo!

I am so fortunate that I get to shoot in Napa Valley. The weather was beyond beautiful. Sunny with a little bit of a breeze, not a drop of rain in the sky, which I was nervous about since there’s always a possibility in March. Seriously, can’t ever beat that California sunshine.

Everything was awesome, from the beautiful church ceremony at St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church, their handsome dog Aldo in his tux, and the groom getting on the mic and singing with the band at the end of the night. Couldn’t have asked for a more awesome couple!

The reception was held at Carneros Brewing Company. The groom’s family owns and works at the brewery, how stinkin’ cool is that? I definitely enjoyed a beer…or two, after I was off the clock of course!

After every wedding I do, I try to reflect on something new I have learned. One, mention to the couple to hold their kiss for at least 3 seconds. Two, make sure there is a space in front of the couple when exchanging the rings in a Catholic ceremony. And three, I should really take Spanish. Why did I decide to learn French in high school again?

Makeup by the awesome Deanna Vasquez (@deannavasquezmua), Gorgeous updo hairstyle by the bride herself, Dress from Alexia’s Bridal in Raleigh, Mariachi Band was Mariachi Nuevo Continental De Sacramento, Cake by Cecilia Martinez-Gerber, bouquet and florals by Decoraciones Espinosa.
